Guess what I'm working on?
I've put it off long enough. I started a portrait of my 3 kids last August. Almost 1 year ago! I had my easel set up in the office because I didn't have my studio set up yet in the basement. (we had just moved in to this house!) I had to clean up my easel & paints, however, because we were having a Baptism Party for little Libby here at the house. So my mess got cleaned up & the portrait got stashed. Ever since, I just wish I could wave a magic wand & have it DONE, but unfortunately it's not that easy.
Coming up on the 1 year anniversary of starting the portrait... I decided to dig it back out & give it another whirl with the paintbrush. I thought I was about 1/3 done & that the hard part was over... but I have since painted over that entire area. "Libby" is back to ground zero, but "Brett" & "Davis" are about 1/2 way done. Two steps forward, 1 step back! :) Anyway, I don't want to show you any of the photos because everything has changed a thousand times since the photos were taken. And, currently "Libby" looks kind of scary.
But, I will take you on a trip down memory lane. Here are some other special pieces I've cREaTed for our family.
The drawing is one of the 1st things I've done that I was truly proud of. I did this Spring '02 when Brett was just a baby. I was a Navy wife whose husband was deployed for 6 months and just picked up a pencil to pass the time. While Baby Brett would nap, I'd turn on "Passions" or "Days" & draw. :) [Note: I don't have time to watch Soaps anymore... plus we all know Passions is off the air! Darn...]
By 2004 I was more in to painting than I was into drawing, so I attempted to paint a portrait of Brett & Baby Davis. I can't remember how long this took me, but it's safe to say I worked on it for days. It currently is over our fireplace.
So I won't show you any photos of my new portrait of the 3 'til I'm done, but the photo of Libby here is the face I'm trying to capture.
Wish me luck! I really need it...
