Last night was the Engagement Party for my dear friend Karah (my bestfriend since grade school) & her fiance Doug. Aren't they just the most adorable couple? They are both beautiful inside & out. Good as gold.
Here was the menu... the *'ed items are the things I made from scratch & have fabulous recipes for if you want them. I might do a post with a few of those recipes... they are sooo good.
I made them a HUGE galvanized beverage tub... which we were supposed to use, then give to the future Mr.&Mrs.P as a gift. But my husband was knee deep [or done] with his cooler project & I was just grateful for the help, so I let it go. [I admit, I did huff & puff a bit at first]
I had some L*O*F*T*Y visions of the backyard ambiance. I had found way too many fabulous ideas under Martha's "Entertaining" tab... and when I realized my husband wasn't going to fill buckets with gravel that would anchor the posts which held the garden party lights that defined the area, I went with plan B. We dug out our old beach tent we used when we lived on the North Padre Island, hung some streamers, scrubbed down the plastic furniture, lit some candles ... and I was satisfied. (That was just to expand the party area off the patio & in to the yard.) Below is also a picture of me, Karah & my sister Rebecca. I cropped it so you can't see the wet spots on my shirt from where I used it to twist off the cap of my drink. Wonder how long I walked around like that? (I didn't realize it 'til I saw the pictures this morning... augh)
Anyway, it was a great night honoring Karah & Doug. All of my Plan B's went off without a hitch! :)
