Anything Goes ...

My little Libby is an "anything goes" kind of girl, as displayed in the 'knee sock montage' above. So we revamped some things in her room in order to reflect her style & make her space something that would be easier to grow up with.

1.) The framed artwork of the little girls in the ballet studio was actually a Birthday card to me from my mom & dad, from when I was probably 4 [same age as Libby]. I trimmed off the part that said "Happy Birthday, Girl" & let Libby help pick out the paper for it to be mounted on. I think Libby was RIGHT ON with this paper. It wasn't my 1st choice, but I immediately fell in love with her pairing. You might notice who is front & center? A little red head. Libby loved that. :) The artist is Joan Walsh Anglund & had [& still have] a pretty extensive collection of her stuff. We also have this illustration in a puzzle. I adore it.

2.) The little pennant banner that hangs under it I had hand-painted & sewn a couple of years ago. I used it in my booth at a craft show & always wanted it in Libby's room, but it didn't 'go' before.

3.) On the other wall hangs the rose I painted 3 summers ago. The background was a green & I just was never really happy with it. It always seemed like it was missing something. I knew in order for it to go in her room, the background would need to be this color in order to round out the color scheme. The cool bluish purple background was just what the warm red & orange flower needed.

4.) I got the 2 red 8.5x11 frames at Ikea over the weekend & let Libby pick out which drawings she wanted to put in them. She did these 2 drawings last week at school. They are her friends in her new class this year. :) She didn't tell me until they were up on the wall, that she actually ran out of time & didn't get to draw somebody. So I promised her I would get it down & so she could add Jane. :) Her drawings are so darn cute. Their outfits, their hair. And she knows who everybody is & even said to me "isn't Helen so cute?" [FYI Helen is in the red shirt, purple pants, red bow, red socks, black shoes]

5.) The frame that sits empty is waiting on something cute she made the 1st day of school. It is her name painted with watercolors. Her teacher still has them hanging up in the classroom - but when it comes home, that's where it will go. :) It's just a plain frame that I wrapped some string around.

Total cost of the redo: $7, for the 3 new frames. Everything else we already had. Not bad. Not bad at all.
