a cREaTe Beanbag Chair ?!?

I went for "MOST ORIGINAL" after my sister & I bought the same gift for my niece [an Ariel sprinkler]. I didn't want to risk giving her another duplicate gift so I went for a Beanbag Chair. A little random (for a 3 year old), but definitely original.

My 1st thought was to sew on a fabric "K" in a coordinating fabric. I spent almost 2 hours on it & ripped it out. It looked bad within 15 minutes, but I kept going thinking it just needed more stitches to look better. Note to self: Applique should be left to machines. After ripping it all out I was left with a decision... sew something simpler or paint. I decided painting was more my domain so I gave it a whirl. Not one of the easiest things to paint (a beanbag chair is sort of a moving target), but if there's one thing I've mastered from painting all these years, it's a steady hand.

All my hard work was almost ruined when I thought it was a bright idea to MOVE IT upstairs to dry. Just imagine what happened when I grabbed the formless chair to carry it upstairs. Umm yeah. THINK: preschool butterfly paintings; where you paint an image, fold it in 1/2 then VOILA you have a beautiful butterfly, mirror image. I came extremely close to that. I slowly released the fabric out of my hands & let it fall naturally back into place. Lesson learned.

I saved myself from getting my niece the same GIFT as my sister, but unfortunately we were still thinking the same & we showed up in MATCHING OUTFITS! Army green pants, the EXACT Gap jean jacket (okay we bought them together - OUR BAD)... the only difference was she had a cute black 1/2 button undershirt & I had a cute brown 1/2 button undershirt. Our kids were switching mommys' laps & I think it's because they couldn't tell us apart. :)
