ARTichokes
We planned a non-traditional bachelorette party for a one-of-a-kind girl. :) Part of the events took place at this amazing art gallery & studio here in Kansas City, called ARTichokes. {click here to visit the website} We attended [crashed] an "Open Studio".
We all got an 8x10 canvas, got to pick out our own colors, brushes, got our own table top easel... and we got to work. It was a blast. We spent the whole time laughing at ourselves & each other. I can honestly say, it was the best bachelorette party I've ever been to. This was just one part of the day, the rest was spent doing gifts, dinner, drinks, & a photo-op at the Plaza fountains. I'll wait for the lady-of-the-night to allow my release & display of the fountain photos. :) 'Til then... here's us at the studio, finding our inner Pablo Picassos, Normal Rockwells & Salvador Dalis. Actually, I think I was more Bob Ross... I had some "Happy Trees". [see below]
We all joked that we were going to pick out a room in Karah's new house in which we expected to always see our beautiful artwork proudly displayed. :)
I struggled with the thicker paints than I'm used to & felt a little out of my element. I painted over the entire canvas about 3 times out of frustration. In approximately the last minute & a 1/2 before we left the studio, I turned my vertical canvas into a horizontal & made it into an autumn horizon.
I had to leave with a sticky, fresh-painted mess! :) Definitely not my favorite thing I've ever painted, but it will always remind me of our day of fun in honor of one of my very best friends, Miss Karah "Petunia"! :)
