That photo above was one of Brett's random photog jobs, but how PERFECT that it's me on the computer surfin' Etsy! I've gotten really good at the quick poses! There aren't too many photos of me, until Brett (6) took an interest in photography the past couple of months! :) ha! There will be LOTS of mommy in 2008.
Anyway...So I did an Etsy 101 post {here}, but I'm thinking I need to help give you all a nudge to sign up to become a buyer. Christmas shopping, after all, is only about 2 months away. So let's get this going...
As a buyer, you get your own page, username, avatar & list of favorite items & sellers! If you're computer savvy or the adventurous type, go here & get started! Otherwise, stay here and I'll try & help you out.
Who should get a buyer account? Anyone who loves buying fun, unique gifts for people. Anyone who loves going to Craft Fairs {Etsy is one - it's online & open 24/7!}. Anyone who wants to buy my items from cREaTe.
What is a username? Oh whoa - wasn't expecting that one. It's just your "nickname" that you want to use. Mine is my shop name, but you can use anything.
What is an avatar? I didn't know what this was a year ago. This is your photo or graphic that respresents you & your username! I just switched mine earlier tonight after visiting a forum where people had to guess what kind of things you sold based on your avatar. So I now have a cute chicky [above] representing me & cREaTe!
How on earth do I go about creating an avatar if I didn't even know what it was? Calm down, I know all this is probably overwhelming. You actually don't need one... I believe Etsy will give you a generic one if you don't have your own.
Rachel, you seem to know your way around MS Paint & cREaTing your own computer graphics, will you make me an avatar pretty please? Want me to make you one? I'll make up to 3 avatars for the 1st 3 people who say they want one [leave a comment after this post]! We'll come up with a little 1" square that perfectly represents YOU on Etsy. Won't that be fun? But you have to promise to mark me as a favorite! :) (If you already have an Etsy account, but just want a new avatar, I can do that, too)
What are "favorite sellers", "favorite items" & "hearts" all about? This is a way of bookmarking on Etsy! See something that makes you laugh or that you might want to get someone for Christmas? HEART IT. Plus, it gives the seller a warm fuzzy to know that someone really likes it.
