I painted a little nesting doll (aka Matryoshka) on a canvas after a mommy to a little girl adopted from Russia gave me the idea. Having my own precious nephew adopted from Russia just 7 months ago, I wanted to try it out. I had so much fun playing around with the funky colors. Red, pink & green are of course my favorite color combination, so I was sure to use them. I'm also a sucker for polka dots... so they were painted as well. I tried to keep the flower looking hand-painted, by not fully blending the colors. I'm not even sure if that makes sense to you [since it is hand-painted], but it did to me & I thought it helped with the look of it.
You can find it on Etsy here.
I will probably be trying out some more designs with this theme... and to oblige my sister, I might do one for a boy. :)
As I just mentioned in my previous post, my sister & brother-in-law went to meet their son just days before this past Christmas. They bought us a Santa Claus nesting doll as our souvenir that we will keep forever, always reminding us of our favorite Christmas gift from 2007 - them finally getting to squeeze & lay eyes on their adorable little boy.
Isn't this so cute, with the littlest one being a Christmas Tree? I just love it. :)
