Yesterday I went out to our car to discover someone had ransacked the glove compartment, center console & whatever else. I was totally confused ... didn't really know what to think, except I also smelled heavy cigarette smoke in my car. Gross. Someone had been IN my car. After freaking out & thinking all sorts of horrible scenarios, I realized the only thing I could tell was missing, was our newly stocked coin slots in the center console. I am so thankful that seems to be all ... but it's taken a long time to shake the "icky" feeling. The lingering cigarette smell sure has made it harder to forget.
This evening Davis (5) said to me, "Mom, what if the person needed lots and lots of money to buy his kids lots of toys?" Such a sweet way to spin the story. But, I had to use that moment to still tell him that the person "can't take something that's not theirs ... without asking". I said, "That's stealing. And you can go to jail." So then Davis said "Maybe the cops already caught him & he's in jail. And he's in a shirt with black & white stripes. Did you know when you're in jail you wear a shirt with black & white stripes? The boys do. The girls ... the girls wear pink & purple stripes." :)
Now you know.

too funny!! speaking of davis..i was working at the showhouse on sunday and this mom with two boys (maybe 6-8) and a girl (4-5) walked into the room. the boys were looking around and one of the boys asked his mom a very detailed question about the exposed hvac...you could tell he was analyzing the room. i could not help but think of davis! ;)
