Where is the Love?

A few weeks ago we had the incident where someone was in my car & stole some items. Last week, my husband was involved in a crash caused by a drunk driver. It was a bad wreck & even though my husband wasn't injured ... the wound is still there as the car was towed today & it's unclear whether the drunk driver had insurance. Tonight, at the grocery store as I was leaving I passed 2 people & the conversation went like this. "Remember me? ... I'm the person that you cut in front of in the parking lot." I didn't know who I was appalled at more ... the person who allegedly cut in front? Or the person who was so rude to publicly call her out on it.

Seriously, where's the love? The Christmas spirit? I haven't seen much of it. Or it's just that the good has been so overshadowed by the bad. It's hard not to feel unnerved and disheartened. But as Henry David Thoreau poetized, "There is no remedy for love but to love more".

So here goes. I am thankful that the person who took items from my car did it quietly and without incident. If I could personally thank him for that, I would & I mean it. God, thank you for keeping Kyle, his passenger & the other innocent driver safe. I know if it weren't for that truck's positioning ... well, I can't bring myself to say or type the words. The driver who was under the influence and caused the wreck, had the only injuries ... and I pray he's doing better. I know he's hurting, too. Lastly, to the 2 people at the grocery store ... kindness is contagious. Rudeness doesn't get you anywhere. And it certainly didn't get you inside the store faster ... you got to the carts at the same time. :) Be safe & be nice.

Putting a little love into the loveless can be really hard to do ... but I'm learning that sometimes it's the only thing that helps take the hurt away. Remedy, it is. I get it now. :)

Rachel,
I love reading your blogs and listening to the music on your site. I'm sorry about the last few days with the car incident (both of them)and then at the grocery store too! I'm feeling super stressed out today and I think DFS would have been called if anyone would have seen the way I behaved with my children this morning. But reading your blog, reminded me about the true meaning of Christmas. When my children come home this afternoon, we will spend time TOGETHER playing games, reading books, and painting. Thanks Rachel! Merry Christmas to you, Kyle and the kiddos!
