For an Hour ...

So 2 posts ago, I described a little bit about what Treasuries are. And why you do them. I personally just think it's fun to act as a "curator" ... putting together stuff that goes well together in your eyes. And of course spotlighting some of your favorite things {or favorite people / Etsy sellers}.

Funny thing is that in that post, I almost wrote "Also ... most of the time the Front Page of Etsy is someone's Treasury that they have pulled to showcase." But I didn't write it. Because the chances of your Treasury actually making Front Page is like 1 in a million. Okay, maybe my math is a little off, but there are usually anywhere between 400 - 900 Treasuries to choose from & browse. And there are of course strict guidelines for what Etsy Admin wants to actually put there. Basically ... every slot has to be showing their A Game [good lighting, crisp photo] since this is the Front Page. Like the cover of a magazine or catalog. This is why [in my opinion] there is so much more to photographing your artwork & items, than just "point & click". You have to be thinking of the "bigger picture".

All that to say ... my Treasury was pulled to use as Etsy's Front Page. Yesterday, February 24th between 5-6pm ... the 12 goodies I found became the 12 most featured, most showcased items in all of Etsy Land. When that happens, a shop's popularity temporarily [or permanently] sky rockets, the shop's "hearts" go spinning out of control & things start flying off the shelves. Well ... I at least know of one instance [the cool marble photograph] where something sold, becoming the shop's FIRST SALE. Front Page [or FP as it's referred to by Etsians] is where every one on Etsy WANTS TO BE, but it's really hard to get a spot of that prime real estate. So I am thrilled to have had a hand in giving 12 shops a little time there. :) {Including Dana & Lindsay!}

So to have put the Treasury together ... I will take the liberty to equate that to being a designer of a major catalog cover. Or the designer of a popular, busy downtown storefront window. Yes, that's it. Adding that to my resume ... now. Before I forget. Perhaps that's embellishing a bit much? Nah ... if they ask, I can explain it was only for an hour. If they must know. ;) hee

Now it's back to reality. A mere stay-at-home mom with an art business on the side. Assisting a 2 year old with the puzzle she dumped of the United States. Guess what 2 year old doesn't know where all 50 states go? So guess who has to do it? Guess who was cramming Wyoming & Colorado into the wrong squarish spaces? That would be the 33 year old.

Oh what a great post! As for me, we won't even go into which state goes where. I completed the USA puzzle back in first grade and left the knowledge there. I am off to refold all the clothes my curious 13 month old so kindly "helped" me unfold, but it was nice to be FP news :) for an hour!

Great Job---I still don't GET IT, but if you're excited about it, then I am too.

Those "square states" are tough. . .

you are too funny!! you are so right when you say the treasury needs to have it's "A" game...i was looking through some the other night and i thought to myself...these would never make the front page...for that same reason..lighting was off..picture was out of focus..etc.
