Do-It-Herself: Memo Board

New house, New kitchen. It takes awhile for every nook & cranny to reach its full potential. I decided my family needed a bit more organization & a memo board was the solution.

I had flipped through enough Pottery Barn & Ballard Design catalogs to know what I wanted & how much they were going to run. I headed down to my basement to check out my materials to see if there was any way I could put one together on my own & (even better) without a trip to the store!

I had a large frame that was waiting to be put to use. It once held a mirror, but broke the day of the big yard sale. When every one else considered it a loss, I snagged it for the frame. The bulletin board I was using down in the basement to hold a few notes & photos (in my "studio") but let's face it, getting moved out of the basement is a promotion.

I sized them up & determined they were a match with a little tweaking. I pried the wood frame off the bulletin board, used a box cutter to cut the cork board to size & then used clear silicone to glue it into the frame. A little metallic silver paint & a little antiquing glaze & I had myself a memo board with a frame painted to match the hardware on the cabinetry! Trips to the store = 0. Cost = $0. Makes me = :)
