Last week Davis [5] came home from school with a little bag of beads. He had found them on the playground at school [in the mulch]. He was driving me a little nuts with them... demanding to transfer them from the bag to a bowl. Wanting to wash them all to get the mulch off. I wondered just how long these beads were going to be a part of our life. :) He is and forever will be A MAN WITH A PLAN ... unfortunately he is 5. And sometimes we can't always do what he wants to do or do it when he wants to do it. Last week I had a
very short wick with him & his 5 year old self.
On Friday he found a broken rubberband. He ran to get his bag of beads & started on his project - completely self-directed. He threaded his playground beads onto this broken rubberband & wrapped tape around the ends to make a bracelet. He gave it to me. Moments like this have me praying for a longer wick. He's a man with a plan ... and that's such an awesome quality to have. I don't want to put that fire out.

First: this music is perfect for this post! And I love it. I'm with you - I often find myself correcting or 'redirecting' them in things that I really should be encouraging them in. So many daily lessons to learn. Thank you for sharing this one.
NOw I'm off to keep your blog up all day so I can listen to your music!
I love his focus---great photos.
As I used to tell Mary Beth,"Those qualities we admire in adults are not necessarily fun qualities in a pre-schooler."
