Excellent ...

Today was an excellent day.  Brett went to school this morning just for a couple of hours for the All-School Awards Ceremony ... then they were off for SUMMER BREAK.  When his teacher put him in the car at carpool, she had Brett tell me his great news.  He had gotten an AWARD.  "Excellence in Art" - out of the whole 1st Grade.  So proud.  SO PROUD.  I kind of wish I had been there to see his face ... I know he would've been all gloaty with a twinge of embarrassment.  I love seeing Brett get like that.  I worry so much about him & his ego, being so far behind developmentally.  And because his language skills are so far behind, it's sometimes hard to know what he gets & what he doesn't about him being far behind.  But luckily, he's a very expressive kid ... and his eyes usually say it all.  I love to see him happy & on top of the world ... and I hope he got to feel that today.  I'm so proud of him & the award he got.  It does my heart good to see him awarded for his "excellence".  We went to "The Sweet Guy" to celebrate over some giant cinnamon rolls & red cream soda, then joined dozens of friends at the playground.  Hope your day is excellent!  Happy Tuesday ...
