Here comes the sun ...

[We've been making a whole lotta Bruschetta ...]

The sun, with all those planets
revolving around it and dependent on it,
can still ripen a bunch of grapes
as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.
- Galileo

This made me laugh the first time I read it.  I feel the same way with my tomatoes.  Every day I go out there & pick 2 handfuls of red tomatoes ... if they're not red, I leave them on the vine another day or 2.  It's amazing how much I rely on the sun just here, in my backyard in Kansas City  "... as if it had nothing else in the universe to do."   :)

In other news:  This has been one of the craziest weeks of the whole summer.  The exterior of our house is getting painted, our basement is gutted & getting framed today ... and because of all the projects, our house is an absolute M.E.S.S.  We are drowning in storage bins & storm windows ...  & we all have been on top of each other all week due to the cramped quarters.  It's really hard to complain when both projects are things we've wanted to get done the 3 years we've lived in this house.  But at the same time, it's super easy.  Next Wednesday the kids go back to school ... 5 more days.   Not that I'm counting. Nope.  At least I think it's next Wednesday.  Might have to check the calendar.  NOT. :)

Glad to see someone's tomatoes grew. Our plant did not survive. I think it knew no one in this house eats raw tomatoes so it gave up.
