"My Pet Turtle"

Told you I was working on some non-girly girl ideas. :) Not that a girl can't claim this cutie turtle as her pet... but I'm just saying I finally painted something that doesn't have a rose or a dress on it. :) ha! "My Pet Turtle" can be found on Etsy here.

Ever since last week when I was busy personalizing some of the custom pieces from the Tag Sale... I have moved my lil' workshop up to the Dining Room. [Even though it drives my husband LOCO] The lighting is better... but also all last week I was able to work a little, chase Libby a little, work a little, play a little, watch Libby play with markers while I worked a little. So today after the boys declared that their "rest time" was over, they came downstairs & watched me paint. Davis (4) kept giving me encouragement, telling me I was a good painter, wishing he could be as good as me, wishing he could practice so he could be as good as me, telling me it was a good turtle, etc. [And yes, he does talk this much. All this was probably said in a matter of 8 seconds!]

He wanted to show me that he has gotten better at drawing a fish (a project that was like 6 months ago, but apparently he still remembers when he couldn't draw the fish). So he got busy drawing the fish, then he started to fill in the water. After he had covered 1/32 of the ocean with blue, he said he was "tired of it"... so I suggested he make some seaweed so that he had to color in less paper. He did some seaweed, but then on his own decided to add more fish & jellyfish. It was so, so cute. I loved having a little buddy to do art with! He gave me some much needed encouragement & I gave him some suggestions & encouragement, too.

I love the little face on his fish. Yesterday when he was working on his picture of a dog, he had it all done and put that face on it, too!
