She was cute before, but we have since: Removed the old window boxes; Put on new gutters; Removed the random smaller trees that were trying to steal the spotlight from the beautiful oak that towers over them; Put in a new driveway & front walk; Put in plantation shutters [interior, but improved the look of the exterior!]; Removed the 50 year old shrubs; ; Put in a front sitting area & new plantings to fill the space of the old shrubs; And as of last week ... we have had all the wood rot repaired & have given the house a fresh coat of paint.
According to some neighbors ... the house hadn't been painted in 25-30 years [because they've been here that long & it hasn't been painted since they've lived here]. It showed. The house color was so faded no one knew what color it was. I called it a light gray. The kids called it white. Someone else asked if it a pale blue. Now there's no guessing ... it is a Sherwin-Williams Dorian Gray, with Eider White trim & Black Fox shutters. The door we kept the same cranberry red that I painted it last summer.
The front porch still has to get painted ... we held off for a few days since we expected heavy foot traffic due to hundreds of 2x4s & 2x6s [and whatever else] needing to make their way into the house for the basement remodeling project [as one project ends, another begins]. :) I am loving the fresh, rich, crisp look of the house. She's lookin' mighty fine for 57!
